Middle School Program
The Next Generation Scholars Young Scholars is a year round academic enrichment program for middle school students. From The House on Mango Street to cow eye dissections, to the art history of the Mission murals and trips to the theater, this multi-faced academic program aims to nurture college bound culture during the middle school years. Cognizant that the research literature finds that may would be college bound high school student actually lose their way in middle school NGS focuses upon Algebra and Language Arts ensuring the Scholars are well prepared for high school.
During the school year, the Young Scholars program meets Thursday afternoons and Sundays. During the summer, the Young Scholars has a one month summer bridge program that meets Monday through Friday all day. The summer program has a balance of academic and arts classes Monday through Thursday with a field trip every Friday. Field trips include college trips led by Next Generation Scholars currently enrolled at Stanford and UC Berkeley as well as excursions to local museums performances and historic communities.
