You Have Arrived
Next Generation Scholars were asked about the moment during their college experience when they knew "they had arrived." This is the moment they realized they were truly college students.
“Unable to sleep, I took a late night bike ride around campus. I turned the corner and started biking down Palm Avenue. There in the distance, memorial church stood glowing. As I biked toward it, in that moment, I knew I had arrived.”

“Sitting in a dorm room with friends during orientation, a student from Nigeria began to play traditional music from his country. We all got into a circle and he started teaching us a tribal dance. Suddenly, I was a part of a global community. As I danced with my newfound friends, I knew I had arrived.”
"I was on stage in Memorial Auditorium singing for 3,000 people. In that moment, I knew I was living breathing part of the university." I had arrived.
Walking through campus, I heard a loud echo. I looked behind me to see a rally of over 500 people all chanting "Free Jenna six". I looked above me as a man climbed up Sather gate screaming, "I still have a dream." I was in the midst of the next Civil Rights movement. In that moment, I knew, I had arrived.
